Winter Fun in the Petoskey Area
More than just the ski areas, the Petoskey Area in northern Michigan is home to a variety of activities to take advantage of more than 120 inches of snowfall experienced annually. Our Nordic trails (for cross-country ski, snowshoe, and hiking in the winter) range from beginner to intermediate in difficulty, and there are several trails managed by Little Traverse Conservancy and by Top of Michigan Mountain Bike Association that are groomed throughout the season leaving you a less rugged terrain to enjoy. There are also free or low-cost activities like ice skating and sledding that you will want to add to your list!
If you don’t have your own winter sport equipment like skis, snowboards, a helmet, cross-country skis, snowshoes, or a fat bike, there are gear rental shops available in several of our communities.
The relaxed ski town vibe in our Up North communities enhances your northern Michigan winter getaway. Check out the lodging in Petoskey, Harbor Springs, Boyne City/Boyne Falls, Alanson, or Bay Harbor for the perfect place to stay.
