LOCAL FARMERS MARKETS
The Petoskey Area has seasonal and year-round farmers markets that are worth visiting. They may be small towns but they are surely not small markets. Seasonally the communities of Harbor Springs and Petoskey offer outdoor markets: the Harbor Springs Farmers Market on Wednesdays and Saturdays and Downtown Petoskey Farmers Market on Fridays. Boyne City Farmers Market is a year-round market that occurs every Saturday, in the warmer months they offer the market on Wednesdays as well.
HOPS ‘N HIGHLANDS
The Highlands Resort in Harbor Springs hosts an annual beer-tasting festival – Hops ‘n Highlands – that is a great chance to explore Michigan craft beers in an outdoor setting.
SEASONAL RESTAURANT WEEKS
The local chamber of commerce hosts seasonal restaurant weeks in the spring and in the fall that offer a chance at discounted meals at local restaurants. This is a great opportunity to experience new restaurants in the Petoskey Area. Harbor Springs Spring Restaurant Week is end of February to the beginning of March. Petoskey’s Spring Restaurant Week is typically in March and their Fall Restaurant Week is typically in November. Boyne City Chamber of Commerce hosts a restaurant specials week called “Boyne Apetit” in the fall typically around October.
BOYNE CITY FOOD TRUCK RALLY – JULY
The Boyne City Food Truck Rally is an event put on by Boyne City Main Street and Boyne City Farmers Market as their Farmers Market Fundraiser. Each year you can expect a great lineup of Food Trucks from the northern Michigan area in Veterans Park in Boyne City. Keep an eye on the Boyne City Farmers Market and Boyne City Main Street Facebook pages for updates on dates and times.
ANNUAL TASTE OF MORELS & MOREL WINE DINNERS
For over 60 years, Boyne City has hosted the National Morel Mushroom Festival every May. The festival has so many great things going on from family fun attractions, arts & crafts vendors, live entertainment, outdoor recreation fun, to culinary events. Check out the carnival that occurs every day of this 4-day event! Looking to try some beautifully prepared morel mushrooms? Check out their premiere event the Taste of Morels. During the Taste of Morels event try amazingly prepared items by local chefs as they compete for the top three spots of morel mushroom dishes.
PETOSKEY UNCORKED
Petoskey Uncorked is Petoskey Wine Region’s wine-tasting event that occurs each May. Historically it has been held at Odawa Casino where you pay admission and receive 16 wine-tasting tickets (one for each winery in the Petoskey Wine Region), plenty of h’ors d’oeuvres to snack on, and live entertainment.
TASTE OF HARBOR SPRINGS – September
Taste of Harbor Springs is a food-tasting event of local restaurants in Harbor Springs Marina Park in September. This event organized by the Harbor Springs Area Chamber of Commerce raises funds for the Mary Ellen Hughes Culinary Scholarships each year.
