Winter

Winter in the Petoskey area typically goes from late November to early April, give or take. Old Man Winter likes to trick us that winter has arrived, but it surely will melt for a brief amount of time in the early months. Typically, we will see our ski hills have their ‘opening day’ close to Thanksgiving, even if it’s just to have a few ski runs available for their guests. This is a great time to experience many winter activities that you might not have gotten to before.

Some activities, restaurants, and attractions in the area are closed during the colder months like Bay View Association, certain restaurants, and water activities are few and far between – unless you check out Avalanche Bay Indoor Waterpark at Boyne Mountain! It is best to check or call ahead before making plans during this season unless it is a designated winter activity, of course.

Petoskey Area is home to downhill skiing at 3 wonderful resorts: The Highlands at Harbor Springs, Nub’s Nob, and Boyne Mountain. Other great winter activities include sledding, ice skating, cross-country skiing, snowshoeing, and more! Check out our Winter Fun page to see everything on and off the slopes!
