Arts, History, and Culture

The arts, history, and culture in the Petoskey Area is nothing short of amazing. From theater/concert venues like Great Lakes Center for the Arts, Lavender Hill Farm’s concert venue, Crooked Tree Arts Center, to John M. Hall Auditorium in Bay View – there is a tall list of events throughout the summer and early fall season. Winter performance venues aren’t as packed but there are still several venues to keep tabs on.

Education through the history and culture of the region is a great way to learn more about the Petoskey Area and the ‘why’ of what it is today. The impact Petoskey and surrounding communities had on Young Ernest Hemingway is quite astounding. Learn of the industries that built this community early on. Let us not forget the people that came before later settlers of the region, the now Little Traverse Bay Bands of Odawa Indians. Learn about significant tribal historical sites and walk through their history in a local museum. Another great way to discover Petoskey is through a guided historic walking tour.
