Chief Petosega Sculpture

This statue was erected in 2005 to honor Chief Petosega, a local businessman and chief of the Odawa Nation. He was born to a French fur trader and a Native woman and the town of Petoskey is named for him. The loose translation of Petosega is “rising sun.”
