Fall_ColorNow that fall is in the air, it’s time to start thinking about hopping in the car and taking in northern Michigan’s magnificent fall color. This year, make plans to head for the Petoskey Area for the boldest, brightest, most memorable fall color tours around.

One of the color tours takes you around glimmering Lake Charlevoix; another includes spectacular overlooks of the Jordan River Valley; a third takes you through rolling hills (the color makes them incredible) and offers views of Lake Charlevoix; another tour takes in parts of three northern Michigan counties; and then of course, there’s a tour of the nationally famous Tunnel of Trees.

Take one of those tours, take them all, or head out and explore on your own. Whatever you decide, it’s a “can’t miss” decision.

Along with taking unbeatable color tours, there are a ton of other things to do in and around our charming lakeside communities of Petoskey, Harbor Springs, Bay Harbor and Boyne City.

Being outside taking in all that color can build up quite a thirst. No worries. We’ve got you covered with 8 local wineries and 2 craft breweries. Cheers!

If you’d like to experience our fall more up close and personal than being in a car, lace up your hiking boots or jump on a bike and explore some of the most stunning trails imaginable. With every turn you take and hill you crest, the color just gets better and better.

Speaking of awesome views, nothing beats a chairlift ride to the top of our famous ski slopes for spectacular bird’s eye views. Of course, if you’d rather be right in the middle of things, then go on a zipline tour where you’ll literally be surrounded by vibrant color.

Our area is known for golf, and this time of year it is better than ever. The kaleidoscope of color (and lower rates) is why many golfers think fall is the best time of all to play here.

While you’re here, be sure to stop at one of our farm markets. They are full of fresh produce, pumpkins and a wide variety of autumn treats.

To make it easy to enjoy all the fall activities our area offers, we listed them, as well as mapping out 5 of the most popular color tours, and put them in a free eBook — Petoskey Area Fall Color Guide. Get yours now.
