The Petoskey Area is a fall getaway like no other. An explosion of brilliant color makes this Victorian setting along the lake even more picturesque, even more inviting. While summer here is spectacular and the winter ski season is awesome, many people consider fall the best time of all to visit. We think you’ll agree.

Color Tours

The vibrant reds, oranges and golds stretch for as far as the eye can see. A color tour will put you in the midst of it, providing a lifetime of memories. The Visitors Bureau has five color tours already mapped out, including the nationally acclaimed Tunnel of Trees. Or head out and explore on your own.

Biking

Smoothly coast along the paved pathways as they wind through landscape that has come alive with magnificent fall color. Your ride will put you in the midst of the breathtaking hues that make autumn cycling an unforgettable experience.

Hiking

Lace up your hiking boots, make sure your cell phone is charged (you’ll want to take a ton of pictures) and explore some of the most beautiful trails imaginable.

Golf

In the fall, the area’s immaculate greens are surrounded by a kaleidoscope of color. Along with lower rates, it’s easy to see why many people feel that fall is the best time to play these magnificent courses.

Chairlift Rides

A chairlift ride up and down Michigan’s most famous ski slopes gives you a bird’s eye view of miles upon miles of awesome color covering rolling, wooded hills.

Ziplines

A thrilling way to enjoy the color is to zip right through the trees. All the rides give you panoramic vistas. Some include views of Little Traverse Bay — and on a clear day, the Mackinac Bridge.

Farm Markets

Maybe it’s the crisp air. Perhaps it’s the incredible color. Whatever it is, there’s something about autumn that makes the fresh produce from local farm markets even more delicious. So, along with the views, make sure to take time for a taste of fall.

Wineries and Breweries

Being outside in the autumn air can build up a thirst. Whether you prefer a red or white from a local winery, or a cold one from a local craft brewery, we’ve got you covered.
