The Great Lakes Chamber Orchestra (GLCO) presents Noteable Chamber Choir in their next Sunday Series recital at 4 PM on March 9th at the First Congregational Church, 101 State St. in Charlevoix.
Noteable Chamber Choir is a dynamic new vocal ensemble based in Northern Michigan. Directed by soprano Jamie Platte, the choir consists of 18 skilled and versatile singers and showcases a diverse repertoire in four parts (soprano, alto, tenor, bass) including sacred, classical, folk, and contemporary works.
This program’s theme is Songs of Home – A musical journey that keeps us longing for home.
Among the pieces are The Impossible Dream (from Man of La Mancha), Wayfaring Stranger (an American spiritual), Gaelic Song of the Boatman (sung in Gaelic), Shenandoah (American Folk Song), Let the River Run (by Carly Simon), So We’ll Go A’Roving (with text by Lord Byron), and Sure on This Shining Night (by Morten Lauridsen, National Medal of Arts recipient celebrated for his radiant choral works).
GLCO’s Sunday Series brings free chamber music recitals to communities across Emmet and Charlevoix Counties and are made possible through the generous support of Carolyn Klender.
