Blessing of the Fleet - Fleet Week

Help the Harbor Springs Area Historical Society keep our traditions alive in our Northern Michigan hometown! Thursday, June 27 marks a milestone event – the 12th Anniversary of the Blessing of the Fleet, which grows each year to include more boaters, community members and area visitors.

With the Fleet Week events, we come together to celebrate our unique heritage as a community. These popular and treasured events have become not only the official launch of our summer, but the primary fundraiser for the Harbor Springs Area Historical Society.

Fleet Week activities include:

• Rides on the Odawa jiimaan (canoe) at Ford Park as well as a display about their history.
• Cruises in collaboration with the Little Traverse Bay Ferry Company.
• A boat parade on the harbor, beginning with a traditional Odawa blessing and water song as well as music from the Community Band.
• A special evening  exhibit reception and history talk with Dick Babcock on the construction of the Northern Michigan (NM) Sloop.
