Students will paint A FEW different works and learn techniques that include wax resist, wet-into-wet, and petal shadowing. Megan’s easy-going teaching style ensures your painting time will be relaxing and rewarding. “You’ll feel like you’re sitting on an inland dock in northern Michigan (toes in water, of course) as your subjects come to life on paper,” Megan says. Pure Painterly! Space is limited; reserve your spot soon!

Join Lavender Hill Farm for a fun art class for kids and Create a Dream Catcher using old CDs during their Kidz Create a Dream Catcher Workshop on Friday, July 14th at Noon. It is believed that dreams flow through dreamcatchers when hung at the bedside. Good dreams know how to pass through the dreamcatcher and bad dreams, not knowing the way, get tangled in the dreamcatcher and perish with the first light of the new day. Dream catchers are also a fun and creative way to decorate your bedroom while learning about different art techniques.

Event Details
Join Three Pines Studio for a two-day workshop with Heidi A. Marshall – Capturing the Poetic in Landscape Paintings.
This two-day workshop will stress the importance of expression in painting. Painters often feel frustrated that they can’t seem to create what they see in their mind’s eye. She calls this the “big Idea” concept. What is it you want this painting to say? That’s probably the most important question to consider. Here’s another one – what is the landscape saying to you?
You will explore various ways to enter a painting to get a feeling of what you want to achieve from the onset. There will be some process experimentation and various ways of looking inward as well as outward.
A soulful or poetic painting begins in the eye and heart— sensing something special and feeling its essence. With that said, we will also learn more about the parts of painting important in creating – namely, composition, value, edges, temperature, and more. These basics are also crucial to expression.
I will meet you at your level so don’t shy away if you are a beginner. There is something to learn at every level in this approach to painting.
This class includes demonstrations showcasing some interesting techniques. She will also stress the importance of inspiration, looking, journaling, and taking chances.
