Prez_Day.jpgLots of schools and businesses will be closed for Presidents’ Day on Monday, the 15th. So come up to the Petoskey Area and take advantage of the snow-covered slopes, terrain parks, and cross-country trails at Boyne Highlands, Boyne Mountain and Nub’s Nob. Presidents’ Day weekend is also full of the festivals that make winter here more fun. The Petoskey Winter Carnival, Feb. 11-14, is a blizzard of good times with ice carving, bump jumping, a 5K run, downtown sales and much more. Click for the entire schedule.

Chocolate Covered Boyne & Winterfest will be held in Boyne City on the 12th-14th. Nearly everything is free — from snowshoeing to frozen fish tossing and turkey bowling. There’s also a chili cook-off, wine tasting and downtown sales. Find the complete list of activities here.

Join the Blissfest crew on February 13th for an evening of shooting stars – The Accidentals and The Way Down Wanderers! Both The Accidentals and The Way Down Wanderers are quickly becoming two of the most sought after bands in the Midwest. This will be an amazing night of music. Get tickets HERE.

The 12th Annual Harbor Springs Area Chili Cookoff will take place on the 14th. Bring your appetite, or your best recipe to compete for awards! This is a great place for lunch or a snack when taking a break from the chilly outdoor fun. Admission charged. Get more information here.

Free Fishing will take place on the 13th and 14th when all fishing licenses will be waived. Visit the DNR site for more info. Join in a terrific group experience on Saturday, February 13 at Camp Pet-O-Se-Ga where they’ll be inviting K through 8th graders and their parents to come out for a fun-filled Free Ice Fishing Day from 12-4pm. Fishing gear, bait, hot chocolate and hot dogs will all be supplied!

Jazz up Sunday evening with a special concert by Carla Cooke. The Freshwater Concert kicks off at 8pm and will offer an incredible evening of musical entertainment in downtown Boyne City.
