Does winter depress you?  Are your kids (and you) spending too much time just sitting? Are you a believer in “It’s never too late to learn”?  If you answered yes to any of these questions, this blog is for you!

January has been declared Discover Michigan Snowsports Month. It’s a way to get folks like you (and me) out to enjoy all the winter season has to offer. This is your chance to learn a new winter sport while taking advantage of reduced prices. Cool, huh?

While other ski areas may offer the same deal, why not get your tips from the best? Boyne Mountain in Boyne Falls, and Boyne Highlands and Nub’s Nob in Harbor Springs are all ready to welcome you to a fun new world of downhill skiing, snowboarding and cross-country skiing.

Who can participate?

The program is open to anyone 7 and older at Boyne Mountain and Boyne Highlands, and 8 and older at Nub’s Nob.

What you get

  • The appropriate equipment for whichever adventure you want to try.
  • Lessons by caring instructors who want you to have as much fun as they do in the snow.
  • An all-day lift ticket for the beginner area so you can hone your newly acquired skills.

What’s it cost?

The experience on a snowboard or skis cost $35.00 per person; those who want to try cross-country skiing pay just $20.00.

Registration is required and signup is easy. Just call the SnowSports School at Nub’s Nob, 800.SKI.NUBS, or the SnowSports Academies at Boyne Highlands, 866.934.9350, and Boyne Mountain, 866.931.3191. Space is limited – don’t wait too long.

There was a time when I was not winter’s biggest fan. Oh, I tolerated it and tried not to whine too much (well, sort of), but I certainly didn’t embrace the whole snow thing like I do now. This year I’m looking forward to relaxing in front of a cozy fire – but after I get off the trails. My knitting and jigsaw puzzles will wait, and I’m hoping my grandkids won’t leave me in the dust (or powder, in this case)!  If you get the chance, make sure to take advantage of this great deal – Learn to Ski and Snowboard month runs from January 6 – January 31.
