Looking for an escape from the winter blues? Need a change of pace? Just want to get away and have some fun? Look no further than the Petoskey Area this winter!
Shopping – Each of the shopping districts in the Petoskey Area – Petoskey’s Gaslight District, the Village at Bay Harbor and downtown Boyne City and Harbor Springs offers an unique array of old and new. Some of the shops have been around for generations. Yet others are brand new this year and waiting for shoppers to find their interesting products. Of course, not all of the shopping is downtown – don’t miss others like Indian Hills Gallery for authentic Native American wares, Sturgeon River Pottery for everything for the birds plus wonderful pottery.
Scenery – Winter is just as beautiful as summer, but with more white! You won’t stop and smell the roses, but you may want to take a deep breath and absorb the views of glistening fields and the snow- capped hills of our winter resorts.
Sipping – Tour the newly formed Bay View Wine Trail – eight wineries within an hour of each other from west of Boyne City to Harbor Springs, Petoskey and north. The wide variety of wines (peach, dry reds, sangria, apricot, light bodied whites and more) make this a great way for any wine lover to spend an afternoon.
Serenity – Everyday life is crazy enough with car pools, work and socializing. That’s part of the joy of getting away to the Petoskey Area. You can relax and accept the tranquility you’ll find while enjoying winter sports like snowshoeing and cross-country skiing.
Skiing/Snowboarding – Not everyone is in search of peace and quiet. Strap on a pair of skis and make short work of over 160 runs available between three terrific resorts – Boyne Highlands, Boyne Mountain and Nub’s Nob. Snowboard your cares away or ski the awesome nordic trails, many of which are absolutely free to venture out on.
Snowmobile – 140+ miles of trails are waiting for you to explore. Maps are available at locals chambers of commerce and rentals are offered at County Wide Services in Harbor Springs and Boyne Recreational Rentals in Boyne Falls.
Sledding/Skating – Boyne City, Petoskey and Harbor Springs all have sledding hill and outdoor ice rinks that are well-maintained and begging to be used. Some rentals are available, but it’s best to bring your own equipment.
Staying – After your perfect day, maybe you’ll relax in a hot tub or in front of a fireplace. There’s a hotel, inn, lodge or condo or rental home with just the right amenities and price to round out the day.
See – you soon?
