Ruth Tucker Ayers Harris Watershed Discovery Center
At Tip of the Mitt Watershed Council
Welcome to the Ruth Tucker Ayers Harris Watershed Discovery Center, where curiosity meets conservation in the heart of downtown Petoskey!
Opening celebration June 1st – regular hours begin June 3rd, 2024.
Dive into a world of exploration as you encounter native fish species in two 150-gallon aquariums, get hands-on with tiny macroinvertebrates in the touch tank, and discover how watersheds work with our watershed simulator—an augmented reality “sandbox” that lets you manipulate the topography to show how water flows over land.
Curious visitors and nature enthusiasts alike will come face-to-fin with juvenile sturgeon, whitefish, and arctic grayling, and discover the vital role that tiny macroinvertebrates play in determining the health of our waters. Engage in immersive educational experiences that reveal the interconnectedness of our actions with the health of our lakes, rivers, and streams. Learn how every individual plays a crucial role in preserving and protecting our water resources.
