Shay Park

About

Step into Harbor Springs history in this free outdoor exhibit located at the corner of Main and Judd Streets.

Shay Park features two of Ephraim Shay’s most remarkable creations:

  • The Aha, Shay’s rare all-steel yacht, showcasing his innovative engineering beyond the railroad.
  • A restored Shay geared locomotive, one of the most recognizable locomotives in American logging history.

Interpretive displays explain how these engineering achievements helped shape transportation and industry while offering excellent photo opportunities for visitors of all ages.

Shay Park serves as the gateway to the Harbor Springs Historic Corridor, connecting visitors by foot to the Ephraim Shay Works Museum, Harbor Springs History Museum, and Andrew J. Blackbird Museum.
