Bear River Valley Recreation Area
A wonderful amenity in Petoskey, the Bear River Valley Recreation Area touts a 1.5-mile path along the beautiful Bear River. Walk, bike or cross-country ski and birding is popular here and along the Petoskey waterfront. Pedestrian observation decks and restrooms are available on the north end of the river. In the winter, bring your snowshoes.
Fishing: many residents and tourists fish at the dam near the mouth of the Bear River.
This beautiful facility also includes a 1/4 mile long whitewater course – the only one of its kind in the lower peninsula.
