Petoskey Area Ice Storm Information

The Petoskey Area and surrounding northern Michigan communities were impacted by a severe ice storm on March 29, which left downed trees and significant damage. As cleanup continues throughout the area since then, bear with crews as they continue to restore area trailways and parks. Thank you for your patience and support.
While recovery is underway, if you plan to travel to this area, please call ahead to ensure you will have access to any parks or trails you plan to visit. We look forward to welcoming you back to the Petoskey Area soon!

Trail Recovery Status

Petoskey Area is home to extensive walking, hiking, and biking trails throughout the area, and several organizations work to maintain these trails. If you are looking for a way to volunteer in the efforts to get these trails back up to working conditions, check with these organizations.
Michigan DNR & Area State Parks
DNR staff are currently assessing damage and conducting cleanup at these sites, prioritizing public and staff safety.

Ways You Can Help

Whether you are looking to show your monetary support or give your time by volunteering to help with recovery efforts there are ways you can help across Emmet County.

Monetary Support
The Petoskey-Harbor Springs Community Foundation has put together an Emergency Response Fund.
The fund provides grant support to eligible nonprofit organizations and government entities that are delivering emergency aid to individuals and families across Emmet County. It can also assist nonprofit organizations whose operations were directly affected by the storm.

The Charlevoix Community Foundation also has an Urgent Needs Fund that help support emergency responders and nonprofits who are providing services due to the ice storm and State of Emergency in Charlevoix County. CLICK HERE to find more information and a donation link.
