By declaration of the governor, June is officially Pure Michigan Golf Month. Michigan is America’s Summer Golf Capital and if you haven’t played the courses in the Petoskey Area, you need to treat yourself and do it soon. If you’ve already played our courses, you probably want to play them again. Why wait? Our courses are in great shape and waiting for you!
It’s no surprise that the Petoskey Area has been rated #2 in the country for concentrated golf quality by Golf Magazine; championship golf courses designed by some of the best – Donald Ross, Arthur Hills, Robert Trent Jones – are dotted throughout Harbor Springs, Boyne Falls and Bay Harbor. These courses have played host to the Michigan Amateur, Michigan State Pro Am and Celebrity Player’s Tour and other well-known events; and the accolades bestowed on the designers and courses and too numerable too mention.
Boyne Resorts alone offers an incredible collection of world-class golf courses. From Boyne Highlands’ Donald Ross Memorial, with holes recreated from some of the designers most renowned courses, to the wide and inviting fairways on The Monument at Boyne Mountain, to the incredible vistas on The Quarry, The Links and The Preserve at magnificent Bay Harbor Golf Club – Boyne delivers an unparalled northern Michigan golf experience. Boyne managed Hidden River Golf & Casting Club holds a Top 100 ranking in the U.S and will test all skill levels. Crooked Tree Golf Club rounds out the series of Boyne’s courses and is just finishing up an Arthur Hills redesign on three of the holes which will greatly enhance the playability for all levels of golfers. As an added incentive, Boyne serves up an interesting array of lessons like the Couples Getaway Golf School, FORE Ladies Only and BOYNE Golf Performance Experience. A wide variety of golf packages are available as well.
18 memorable holes await at Little Traverse Bay Golf Club in Harbor Springs, a beautiful course with professional attention to detail. Nearby Chestnut Valley, founded and built by Larry Mancour, provides a great experience for golfers of all skill levels. And in spring and fall, Harbor Point Golf Club opens its doors and allows play on one of the oldest courses in northern Michigan.
While several courses have on-site lodging, hotel rooms, condos and rental homes in all price ranges are also available in the surrounding area – some with golf packages. In addition, the Petoskey Area’s location near the 45th parallel means summer play on these fabulous courses can start in early morning and last long into the evening – more courses and more time to play; it’s Pure Michigan Golf Month. Why not celebrate with a round or two?
