Shop in the Village at Bay HarborNow that it’s November, some seem to feel that there’s nothing to do in our area, so now what? Here’s some of our suggestions:

*Get to Between the Covers, McLean and Eakin, Horizon Books or Local Flavor – book stores are great places to lose yourself! Don’t stop there – our area offers wonderful libraries, too.
*Splash, play and get excited at Avalanche Bay, Michigan’s largest indoor waterpark.
*Visit the Cross in the Woods in Indian River – no matter your religion, this is an awe-inspiring place and includes the largest collection of dolls dressed in traditional habits of men and women religious communities in the United States.
*Get your friends together and do some wine tastings on the Bay View Wine Trail – several new wineries opened in the area in just the last couple of years.
Local-Flavor*Take a Saturday tour at Maple Moon Sugary in Petoskey – soon to be serving Maple Wine, too!
*Wine isn’t your thing? Maybe our breweries would be more up your alley.
*Watch the craftsmen at Sturgeon River Pottery or Boyer Glassworks – both are terrific stops for gifts as well.
*Take a cooking class at Fustini’s in Petoskey’s Gaslight District – you may pick up the next family favorite to add to your menus.
*Try your luck at Odawa Casino – table games and slots are available. Maybe you’ll hit the big one!
*Beat the crowds, reduce your stress level and find unique gifts in the shops of downtown Harbor Springs, Boyne City, Petoskey and Bay Harbor. Don’t miss the terrific art galleries throughout the area!
solace-spa_pool*How about a tour of Kilwins Chocolate Kitchens? It ends with a sample!
*More stress relief – treat yourself to a day at Solace Spa or the Spa at The Inn at Bay Harbor.
*Put on your skates and revisit your youth at the Pied Piper Skatery in Walloon Lake.
*Escape reality at Petoskey Cinema or the Petoskey Film Theater. *Change your shoes and shoot for a 300 at Northern Lights Recreation Center or BC Lanes.
*Looking for super kid friendly? Raven Hill Discovery Center in East Jordan feeds their minds – Busy Bodies Bounce Town in Petoskey exercises their bodies!
*We learn from the past, so why not visit it at the Boyne City and Harbor Springs history museums?
*Veg out in one of our terrific hotels, resorts, inns or condos – a change of pace always lifts the spirits!

Boyne-Highlands-300x200Winter will be here before we know it and northern Michigan will be dressed in white. The slopes at Boyne Highlands, Boyne Mountain and Nub’s Nob will be running their lifts, the cross country trails will be groomed, and the snowmobile rentals will be rushing out the door. Until there’s enough of the fluffy stuff though, there’s plenty of reasons to visit the Petoskey Area.
