Join the University of Michigan Biological Station in Pellston, Michigan for their Summer Lecture Series: Artist in the Wilderness, Leslie Sobel. Sobel, an environmental artist from Ann Arbor, is an artist in residence in June at the University of Michigan Biological Station, an 11,000-acre research and teaching campus just south of the Mackinac Bridge on Douglas Lake in Pellston. Sobel connects climate, water, and data through art. As part of the field station’s 2023 Summer Lecture Series, she will give a free, public talk titled “Artist in the Wilderness: Field Work and Art Making.” Students, faculty, and researchers from around the globe have studied and monitored the impact of environmental changes on northern Michigan ecosystems for 114 years at the U-M Biological Station.
