Cross Village

Located just north of Harbor Springs at the northern end of the Tunnel of Trees is the small township of Cross Village. This Lake Michigan community is at the southern end of Wilderness State Park that hosts more than 10,000 acres of preserved land.

Cross Village is also home to the Historic Polish American restaurant, Legs Inn. Built in the 1930s with the help of local residents and Odawa, using locally sourced wood and stones. Named the ‘2nd Most Iconic Restaurant’ in the state of Michigan, Legs Inn is uniquely ornamented with old stove legs across its roofline. The building is a reflection of Stanley Smolak’s creativity and craftsmanship. His creativity can be seen in every inch of the restaurant from the moment you walk in. This historic restaurant is open seasonally from May to October each year.

Historic Community

This small community is rich in the history of the Little Traverse Bay Band of Odawa Indians. Originally, Cross Village was known as ‘Waganakisis’, which is the Anishnaabemowin for ‘Crooked Tree’. Zoo de Mack Bike Bash

This annual bike bash, Zoo-de-Mack, takes place each year in May, starting at The Highlands in Harbor Springs’ Zoo Bar and leads through the Tunnel of Trees to Cross Village and then they make their way to Mackinaw City and then Mackinaw Island.
