Event Details
Artists are encouraged to bring their latest project and take advantage of Boyne Arts Center’s free Open Studio on Tuesdays! You will have the opportunity to share project tips and tricks, are invited to bring a sack lunch, and enjoy an afternoon with friends.
Bring your favorite project . . .
a lunch and invite your friends to a time of creating and sharing in the main classroom at the Boyne Arts Center. We will have guest speakers/instructors from time to time. Open Studio is a self-led time to just be you and create what you love with the support and encouragement of other creative artists. This opportunity is unique to the Boyne Community and we are thankful to our members and supporters who make a free Open Studio possible.
Bring your paints, fiber arts, written arts, sculpting, jewelry, cards, drawing, or other portable mediums.
Please see our hazardous waste guidelines in the full description. Also, if the public schools are closed due to inclement weather the BAC will likewise be closed for the day. Thank you to our members and supporters who make Open Studio possible.
Where: One Water Street, Suite 203 Boyne City, MI 49712 above Cafe’ Sante. Entrance is to the left of the Alpine Chocolate House under the green Awning. Take Elevator to second floor, Suite 203 to your right.
When: Tuesdays from 12:00 – 4:00 p.m.
Why: For creative minds alike to gather and inspire each other through their love of art. Come and bring whatever project you wish (all mediums welcome, but please see Hazardous waste guidelines below) along with your supplies, paper towel, lunch, and beverage. It’s all about coming together as artists with no outside interruptions; working on your projects sharing tips, tricks, and occasional demos. Explore ideas and be an inspiration to each other. Please be sure to view our beautiful Gallery full of inspiration to start your day!
You do not need to register in advance but please sign in by giving your name, email, and phone number; there will be a sign-in sheet at the desk, just ask the docent who’s working. This way we can contact you if Open Studio is canceled for reasons other than inclement weather. If Boyne City schools are closed due to hazardous weather, we will not be open as well.
All participants are responsible for clean up when done. Leave the room as found. Table covers are provided, please make sure they are wiped clean before you leave and that your trash is emptied. There will be a docent on hand during these hours. **Class is limited to 12 and we will meet in the large classroom.
Hazardous Waste Guidelines: No toxic mediums allowed such as linseed oil, liquid, turpentine, etc.) If using oils, please bring odorless turpentine or mineral spirits, and solvent free mediums for mixing. While we do have a utility sink for cleaning brushes, we ask that if you are painting with oils, that you take your brushes home to clean. Also, if you are using oils, please take your trash home as well. We will provide plastic grocery bags that you can tape on the table next to you for your trash. Only those bags containing toxic or flammable waste need to go home with the owner. Non-Flammable items cannot be disposed of at BAC.
