When you've decided to start your day in the Petoskey Area, the big question after breakfast is "What should we do today?" We're glad you asked! Listed below are a few ideas that you may enjoy. Try one or try them all!

Friske Orchards

Follow your nose when you enter the door to The Bakery & Pastry Shoppe where you’ll find Friske’s famous cherry pie. Gifts & crafts are offered in both The Country Haus & The General Store as well as a full line of salsas, jellies & jams. Kids will love the Barnyard Buddies & Noah’s Ark Playland (seasonal). In our Orchard pick your own fruit right off the tree & savor the smell of a fresh, crisp autumn day. Open year ‘round, Monday through Saturday. Closed Sundays.


Just A Plain Farm

Enjoy your fall with Harvest Happenings at this family farm. Take a Pumpkin Pickin' Hayride, tackle the Amazing Corn Maze, pop into the Poppin' Popcorn Patch. Also gather colorful gourds & miniature pumpkins in Gourdy's Gourds. Call ahead for hayride schedules & reservations. Open mid-September through October 31st.

Michigan Fisheries Visitor Center

The Michigan Fisheries Visitor Information Center is a must-see cultural treasure of our state!  Guided hatchery tours, weekly nature programs, self-guided hiking/nature trails, interpretive exhibits and more.  Open Memorial Day - Labor Day, daily 10am - 6pm; Labor Day - November 1, open Tuesdays - Saturday, 10am - 5pm and Sun., noon - 5pm.  Closed Mondays. Programs take place year 'round.  Visit our website for details.

Murals
Boyne City & Petoskey
Check out the cool outdoor artwork in the area!  You’ll find murals on Flowers From Sky’s the Limit at 413 Howard Street, the Petoskey News Review at 319 State Street, Glen’s North at 1163 US 31 N., and on the backside of Grandpa Shorter’s Gifts at 301 E. Lake Street all in Petoskey.  Definitely worth a look, three of them represent local themes.  Over in Boyne City, the Boyne Valley Printing Building at 209 S. Lake Street and Boyne City Co-op at 113 S. Park Street offer mushrooms (morels, of course!), trains and a map of Boyne in an extra-large size.
Petoskey Stone Hunting
Area Beaches
These "stones" are really chunks of fossilized coral thought to be 350 million years old. Best hunting places are the beaches at Petoskey State Park and Magnus City Park. No license required.
Pick Farms & Fresh Goods
Taste the Local Difference in our fresh fruits and produce.  What you can pick varies with the season, so we'll keep you informed!  This is a great way to spend some time.
Pond Hill Farm

Visit this working farm/market/greenhouse.  Stroll through our farm amrket filled with unique canned items, organic vegetables, meats and fish.  Kids and adults love to feed our cows, pigs, sheep, goats, chickens and goose.  You can feed the fish at our trout ponds, too!  We offer hay rides, scavenger hunts, walking tours, fishing, educational programs, observation blinds and more.  Call for info and times.  
Raven Hill Discovery Center

Hands-on museum with emphasis on science, history and the arts. Includes live animal exhibits and many activities. Summer hours: weekdays 10 - 4; Saturdays 12 - 4; Sundays 2 - 4. Other times, call in advance.
Skydive Harbor Springs

Enjoy a half hour scenic flight around Little Traverse Bay on your way to jump altitude....2 miles above the earth! Safely strapped to your experienced tandem instructor, you'll jump over the Harbor Springs coastline. After 40 seconds of freefall, the parachute opens and you'll have a peaceful 5 minute canopy ride back to the land area. What a rush! An accelerated freefall program is available in addition to the tandem dives.
